Putting My Pearl Jam in Her Soundgarden
After the glitter wore off from the 80s glam bands, we were introduced to the grunge scene. Trading in our long hair and eye makeup for the fashion sound flannel was in starch contrast to any type of music scene we had seen before. Because of this groundbreaking revolution, we have decided to compile a starter kit playlist for the aspiring grunge aficionado. First, we are going to set the record straight on the grunge scene.
Personally, it drives me nuts when people even mention the words “good” and “Nirvana” in the same sentence. In short, Nirvana…sucks. They have no redeeming musical quality about them. Kirk Cobain has the vocal range and tire screeching voice comparable to a male Stevie Nicks. They are NOT good. Guitar playing is on the caliber of low rated country guitar player. The only redeeming quality that came from Nirvana is the fact that the Foo Fighters came after the bands breakup. Below is the kit that you will need to get started.
Music: Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, and Temple of the Dog. These are all musts when you start with the 90s grunge era. Keep in mind this is not a comprehensive list, instead this just to get you started on the yellow brick road of good music. You will notice again that Nirvana is not on here. Again, the reason is because Nirvana would not win a middle school battle of the bands
